Hyper scale infrastructure delivers rapid value Virtualised IT environments require high-performance infrastructure that can quickly scale on demand. Dell  with Nutanix  and Microsoft address these challenges by combining CPU, memory, storage and networking interface functions in a system that runs a virtualized workload and storage software on VMs in the appliance. They deliver rapid value to dynamic environments, such as desktop virtualisation, development, private clouds and server virtualisation

Nutanix

In Nutanix delivers invisible infrastructure for next-generation enterprise computing by natively converging compute, storage and virtualisation into a turnkey hyper converged solution. The world’s most advanced enterprise datacenters rely on Nutanix web-scale technology to power their mission-critical workloads at any scale.

Microsoft Azure

Azure Pack is a collaboration between Dell and Microsoft and is a pre configuration set of software and commodity Hardware used to run Azure, configured to run on private infrastructure.

The key feature for end users (that is, consumers of the private cloud) is that they get to use the Azure portal, web services API, or PowerShell scripts for creating and managing their applications and virtual infrastructure. This includes Azure Web Sites, which lets you deploy a web application on anything from a shared site using minimal resources – handy for prototyping – to multiple load-balanced instances on dedicated VMs, with scheduled auto-scaling available.

Admins get their own portal where they can set quotas, manage pricing and billing and configure the end user portal (including galleries of standard applications and VM images).

We have also partnered in creating the Dell-powered Windows Azure Platform Appliance. Working on the platform-as-a-service cloud delivery model (PaaS) (one of three cloud delivery models), the Windows Azure Platform Appliance offers cost-saving elasticity: You can scale up when you need capacity and pull back when you don’t.

The result is a flexible cloud delivery model that adapts to your unique needs and goals—in other words, it’s cloud the way you want it. With public or private options, we offer the level of cloud support you need, whether it’s:

  • Standardised technology and proactive, remote management
  • The simplicity of services delivered through the cloud
  • Ease of use, with automated, self-configuring, open technology
  • Hyper-efficient storage that’s tiered, safe, affordable and open

Dell Services is ready to help you evaluate where and how your organsiation can benefit from cloud computing. We offer:

  • Cloud consulting services customised for your specialised needs
  • Application migration, integration and implementation services
  • Expertise in the full range of cloud models, including software as a service, infrastructure as a service and platform as a service

Dell Software defined Networking

Software-defined networking (SDN) is a new approach to providing networks with more real-time intelligence, deep application integration and high levels of automation. While its promise for the Virtual Era is clear, the current reality of SDN is one of a fragmented marketplace that forces organizations to pick sides — you can make a risky “all-in” investment, or sit on the sidelines missing out on the benefits of SDN while standards bodies and vendors work out their differences.

But with us, you don’t have to choose. Reap the benefits of SDN while evolving at your own pace and augmenting the network you already have.

Dell is one of the only vendors that maximizes your choice by offering a complete, unbiased approach to SDN. We design our solutions to provide cutting-edge capabilities by taking the best architectural innovations from the latest SDN applications and delivering them across trusted platforms and technologies. This makes it easy for you to adopt and start experiencing the benefits of SDN.

Our Dell Networking Active Fabric solution is designed for SDN, with support for network virtualisation overlays (NVOs) using the leading hypervisors from Microsoft, VMware and OpenStack. We also support OpenFlow-based controllers from leading vendors. Our Active Fabric also supports programmatic interfaces including Telnet/CLI, TCL, REST, SNMP, Perl and Python scripting.
